How to Read Plotter Paper Sizes

Roll Width The first number on the specification is the roll width. Common roll widths for wide-format plotters include 11, 17, 18, 22, 24, 30, 34, 36 and 42 inches.	Roll Length The length of a plotter paper roll is put in terms of feet. Typically, plotter paper rolls are 150, 300 or 500 feet. Thicker paper rolls are on the shorter side, topping out at about 150 ft.
Core Diameter The core diameter is the diameter of the cardboard tube holding the plotter paper. Paper rolls for inkjet printers have 2” cores. Larger toner machines have wider 3” cores.	Paper Weight This number represents the paper weight. 24# in this example represents 24lb bond/60lb text paper, the most popular weight for standard office printers for general office use. Figuring out the meaning of paper weights can be difficult due to generic imperial measurements.
